Find flights, reserve accommodations, set your budget, get your music downloaded, and get going with these 10 apps for travelling!

We all know that apps make life easier when travelling. I mean at this point, how many people just grab their passport, a physical map, some info brochures, and go on their way? Actually I’m sure some do! But not me.. I am not the greatest when it comes to directions, and, well I AM a millennial and love to use these little gadgets and apps.

FYI There will be a few links in this post, but I’m not affiliated with any of them. I just like to suggest good apps/sites that I personally use.

There are so many apps out there for anything and everything. I’ve tried out quite a few, but these 10 are reliable and easiest to use in my opinion :).

1. HostelWorld –  Hostels can be really affordable and convenient. HostelWorld helps you find the right one, and you can pay right through the app for your stay.

2. AirBnb – They have everything from hotels, apartments, bed and breakfasts, cabins, you name it – they’ve probably got it! Again, you can pay right thru the app for your stay. It also provides some things you can do and places you can eat while you’re staying at your AirBnb. They give you suggestions a few days before your trip so that you can plan for it. And my favourite feature is the map! Let’s say you want to stay beside a lake or river, you just find one on the map, and it’ll pop up places you can stay nearby :).

3. Travel Budget (Travel Spend) –  This app is great once you’ve started your trip and want to make sure you’re staying on your planned budget. I don’t know about you, but when I’m travelling, I can easily get carried away and end up spending way more than I wanted to. This app helps keep you in check :).

4. UNFOLD for Instagram – Most people take pictures when they travel (I mean, I think everyone should!) and likely use Instagram to share with their followers. UNFOLD helps you create IG stories and it’s super duper easy to use. I only recently discovered it just before my trip this month, and I looove it!!

5. Google Maps – This is a no brainer I think! But something I took advantage of recently was the offline maps. I always had data on my phone when I lived in Canada, so I never thought to download offline maps.

Want a list of the best free travel apps? Here are my favourite 10 apps that you should have in order to make your upcoming trips super smooth! Re-pin & don't forget to grab my free travel journal! :) #vacation #travel #traveljournal #travelapps #topapps

6. Skyscanner – Pretty neat app. It’ll find the best hotel, flight and car rentals deals for you. My favourite part is probably in the ‘flights’ section.. When you are trying to select a departure and arrival date, it will tell you which day is the cheapest! It has this legend with coloured dots to show you the price ranges (see below).

7. Uber – Not all countries have Uber yet, but they will someday! Where there are drivers available, it’s very useful. It’s reliable when you don’t know where the heck you are, or if you’re really far away from some sightseeing places.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _builder_version=”3.19.15″ src=”https://andreamoravac.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Screen-Shot-2019-03-18-at-12.04.01-PM.png” /][et_pb_text admin_label=”#8″ _builder_version=”3.19.15″ link_option_url_new_window=”on”]

8. Trello – I’ve been using this app for years! It’s really perfect for trips, especially if you’re going with other people and want to plop ideas and things to pack in one neat little space.

9. Spotify – LIFESAVER when you’re travelling somewhere kind of far from home. Flight layovers, long bus or train rides, car rides, sitting and waiting for one of these things to arrive… music and podcasts are MANDATORY if you ask me 🙂 Download everything you can to listen to while you’re on Wifi, and then listen in offline mode.. For hours and hours! Spotify does have a free version, but the paid version ($10 a month) is worth it, too.

10. Foursquare – Super cool app! Helps you find places to get food, coffee, cocktails, etc. Lots of pictures of the places. And I think if you go to the ‘Info’ tab, it will link to your Uber app and help you get to that place. It didn’t work for me because I don’t have Uber in my current area.
